Introduction to Sports Photography in Action

In this course you can expect to learn the theory behind sports photography, pick up some tips and tricks and unpick the secrets behind some of the most iconic sports images. The course is designed to teach you the basic principles of using your camera and the art of photography.  The course will give you the confidence and knowledge to allow you to take full control of your camera which will allow you to create some interesting and unique images. You can also expect to try out your newly learned skills in a range of practical real-life sport settings throughout the course.

Required Equipment;

You must bring your own camera (any type and model of camera is acceptable)  In addition, you may benefit from bringing the following if you have it:

  • Long zoom lenses (300mm plus)
  • Additional lenses including a wide-angle lens and smaller telephoto lens
  • Tripod
  • Flash guns
  • Spare Memory cards
  • Spare battery

What skills will I develop?

You will be able to develop your technical knowledge of photography and learn about aperture, ISO and shutter speed and how these may affect your image. You will also learn about composition and be able to apply these skills in a selection of real-life photographic scenarios where you will be able to experience photography of sports such as; National League Basketball, National League Netball and Semi-professional Football *.

  • You must bring your own camera (any type and model of camera is acceptable)
  • To attend this course, you must be aged over 19+ years.
  • It will be your responsibility to look after your own equipment and you may want to consider photography gear insurance prior to attending the course.
