Science Access to Higher Education

On this Science - Access to Higher Education, you will study the key science topics including Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths. You will also develop study skills including essay writing, research and exam preparation. By the end of the course, successful students will have the confidence to apply for a university level course.

The course is an intensive course, which includes units in Biological, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Study skills. All students are allocated a tutor, for pastoral support, as well as to help with UCAS.

The Diploma is made up of units that amount to 60 L3 credits. The 60 credits include 15 credits in Biology, 15 credits in chemistry, 9 credits in Physics, 6 credits in Maths and 15 credits in Study skills.

Access courses are open to mature candidates with sufficient interest and commitment who are academically able to study on a level 3 course. It is appropriate for those returning to education after a number of years in employment or bringing up a family. A high level of motivation is required to complete the course.
