Supporting Health Care in Adult Nursing T Level

This is a vocational course aimed at students wishing to progress into a career as a health professional. Students will study a wide range of units which will develop their knowledge and skills related to working in a role supporting healthcare. It will allow students to progress onto a higher education course or apprenticeship within the health and social care sector.

All students will develop a general understanding of health and science:

  • working within the health and science sector health
  • safety and environmental regulations
  • managing information and data
  • principles of good scientific and clinical practice
  • core science concepts including the structure of cells, tissues and large molecules, genetics, microbiology and immunology

They will also learn about topics specific to health, including:

  • understanding the healthcare sector
  • providing person-centred care
  • supporting health and wellbeing
  • further knowledge of both human anatomy and physiology and of diseases and disorders
  • infection prevention and control

In addition to the core content, students will specialise in supporting the adult nursing team.

Work Experience

Industry placements are intended to provide students with the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for skilled employment in their chosen occupation and which are less easily attainable by completing a qualification alone. As part of achieving the overall T Level programme, students are required to complete a minimum of 315 hours industry placement. In order to demonstrate threshold competence in their chosen occupational specialism, the student will be observed during their industry placement.
