Sutton Coldfield Rugby Academy

All scholars on the Birmingham Academy of Rugby will enrol on a Programme of Study which is aligned to their Qualifications on Entry. Scholars will have 10-14 hours of  Rugby Specific Training and Match play combined with Tutorial, Purposeful Work Experience, Maths* or English* (Subject to QoE) alongside their selected Academic Pathway.

This vocational sport specific pathway develops skills and knowledge by studying a wide range of sports related topics. These will enable the learner to understand key elements and components within the Sport Industry. On this programme, you can develop your knowledge using examples from specifically the Golf Industry but generally across the Sports Industry. Units that you will study may include:

Key Modules for Sports Science include:

  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Sports Nutrition
  • Sports Psychology
  • Fitness Testing

Key Modules for Sports Coaching and Development include:

  • Careers in The Sports & Active Leisure Industry
  • Health, Well-being and Sport
  • Developing Coaching Skills
  • Sports Psychology
  • Self-Employment in Sport

Key Modules for Fitness Development include:

Modules are the same as the Coaching Route except for the Coaching Skills Module is replaced by Fitness Development & Fitness Training Modules.
