UAL Photography and Moving Image Diploma Level 3

Start your creative career in photography at Matthew Boulton. Our course is for anyone with a passion for photography and lens-based image making across specialisms including fashion, nature, documentary, and fine art.

You will produce both still and moving image for different purposes including film, animation, and sound recording.

This course focusses on providing the skill set needed for employment in the Creative & Media Industries or advanced study at Higher Education level. Our facilities include a well-equipped photography studio, an up-to-date digital suite with Apple Mac computers and a large black & white photographic darkroom. You will acquire extensive experience of both analogue and digital photographic processes and gain a repertoire of essential skills in Adobe Creative applications such as Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator and Premiere Pro. The course focuses on professional practice and emphasises work experience through live projects, working alongside commercial clients, presentations by industry professionals as well as interdisciplinary, collaborative ventures with other students from the Creative Arts Department. Our city centre location gives us easy access to fantastic cultural and educational resources including regional galleries, museums, and other arts organisations. The course is full time and is assessed through practical outcomes and written documentation of your coursework. The course is funded for all students including those over 19 years of age.

Entry onto the course is by interview and you should bring a portfolio of artwork/photography that you can talk about. Supporting sketchbooks are also good. You will be asked to explain how you will benefit from doing the course and your future ambitions. If you want to do the course, but don’t have the above qualifications, then you need to show a strong portfolio of your photography and be able to demonstrate your experience in the subject at interview.

Awarded by UAL Awarding Body you will achieve a UAL Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication on completion of this course.
