Construction company goes creative with its recycling

Construction company, Interserve donated the cut materials left over from its signs manufacturing business to the student artists to use in their 3D art coursework.

The coursework by the Level 3 art and design diploma students was based on a range of different themes.

Department Manager at the college, Nellie Davies said: “Interserve has provided us with some excellent 3D resources throughout the year, including wood, plastics, vinyl, Foamex and Alupanel. This has helped both our organisations become more efficient with our use of materials, through recycling and saving money.

“We're very grateful to Interserve for their generosity, especially as they hope to carry on making donations to us. This will give our students greater scope for their future artwork and in the shows and exhibitions that take will place here.”

Craig Harrison, Signs Department Manager at Interserve commented: “Interserve is passionate about achieving sustainability targets across the business. Our donations to the Art and Design Centre are an excellent way for us to champion the work of talented young individuals while minimising company waste.

“It's incredibly rewarding for us to see our materials transformed into visual masterpieces. It reinforces the beliefs that everything can be recycled and that there is art in everything.

“We look forward to inspiring other local budding artists in 2016 and beyond as we donate left over materials from our construction projects.”

The Art and Design Centre in Brierley Hill provides A Level and vocational practical courses in art and design.
