Fantastic Finale – Open Day Extravaganza

This Saturday (15 June) will see BMet open its doors to the entire community, offering a taste of what studying at a Further Education College is like.

From A levels, to university level to vocational to part-time courses, BMet offers something for everyone.

Subject areas include art and design, business, construction, dental, engineering, health and social care, horticulture, IT, medical, media, music and performance arts, science, sport, travel and tourism and uniformed public services.

Saturday’s event marks the final set of open events for the college this academic year.

The three Birmingham colleges that form part of BMet, James Watt College, Matthew Boulton College and Sutton Coldfield College will all be open.  As will the Erdington Skills Centre.

Doors open at 10am and for three hours visitors will be able to tour the colleges and meet with tutors.

Guests will also get to try first hand some fun, thought provoking and inspiring activities that might just spark a change of career direction in some and cement ambitions for the future in others.

Each of the colleges will also be offering the chance to win spot prizes – offering something for all the family at the events.

There will even be free ice cream at James Watt College and Matthew Boulton College.

Plus for those keen to return to education but concerned about the cost – staff will be on hand to discuss the different financial support available.

Cliff Hall, Principal at BMet, said: “We are really looking forward to opening our doors this weekend and welcoming people to our three Birmingham based colleges.

“Our open events offer the perfect opportunity for prospective students to tour our campuses and to meet our teaching staff.

“For those students leaving school this summer it’s a great way to energise and get them focused on September and what comes next after leaving school.

“It’s also a great opportunity for members of the wider community to step back into the college environment to see what we have to offer and also perhaps to be inspired to continue with their own education to fulfil their career ambitions.

“Our courses lead to careers and can certainly help career progression.”
