Teaching at a distance continues at BMet

The final term of the year will start at a distance with online learning continuing from Monday 20 April.

While the college buildings are closed teaching will not stop as tutors continue to use online learning techniques to ensure students are not disadvantaged.

BMet Principal, Cliff Hall said: “Our students wholeheartedly responded to online distance learning last term and I am confident they will return to their studies with the same vigour.

“We are looking forward to welcoming them back ensuring they complete this academic year whilst discussing with them, how they can progress into the next academic year.”

The college will also be supporting students through the new grading criteria for this year’s summer awards.

On the last day of the spring term, Ofqual confirmed how GCSEs and A level marks are to be awarded this summer.

The Chief Regulator of Ofqual wrote to all students outlining how schools and colleges will provide centre assessment grades for students.  Click here to read that letter.

Cliff Hall continued: “We are grateful for the guidance that Ofqual issued at the end of last term – it has given us the clarity we need to support our students and ensure they walk away with a fair grade this summer.

“We will be advising our students on the new grading procedure once term starts back on the 20th April.”

In addition to supporting students through the 2020 grading process the college will also be working with students to ensure they have a place to study in September.

All BMet students have been written to confirming they have a place to study in September.

Each spring the college works with students to confirm their choices for September and this year is no different.

Cliff concluded: “We can’t control a lot of external factors right now, but we will support our students to ensure they reach their chosen destinations in the coming months.”

Applications for new students remain open.
