Webinar reassures parents and the business community

Ambition over adversity was the central message from Sutton Coldfield College at a forward-thinking education webinar.

The virtual event held, on Wednesday 22 April, by the Chamber of Commerce was an opportunity for BMet alongside local schools in Sutton Coldfield to reassure parents and local businesses that the education sector is working hard to support young people during the pandemic.

The webinar also focused on how local businesses can help when the time is right.

BMet’s Director of Business Development, Suzie Branch-Haddow, represented the college at the event and delivered a presentation on the raft of measures the college has put in place.

The message for parents of existing and potential new starters in the autumn was a reassuring one.

Teaching is continuing to take place at Sutton Coldfield College, applications for September 2020 remain open and plans for a warm welcome for students in September are underway.

In terms of working with local businesses, Suzie was able to discuss how the college can continue to work with and develop relationships with the Sutton Coldfield business community.

Suzie was joined by staff from the Arthur Terry Learning Partnership (ATLP) and Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School (BVGS).

Commenting on the event, Suzie said: “The webinar was a great way to connect with local people and businesses in Sutton Coldfield.

“It was also great to be able to discuss with colleagues in the sector the challenges that we are all facing but how we are working hard to support our students and each other.

“The webinar also gave us an opportunity to shine a light on our fabulous employer focused pathways – through our courses and apprenticeships – that can help support local businesses to bounce back when the time is right.”
