Apprenticeships
At BMet we offer over 30 different sector based apprenticeships from Level 2 to University Level, including apprenticeships where employers directly recruit candidates. If you’re 16 or over and you’ve already left school then you can apply now and start at various times throughout the year. If you’re leaving school in September then apply now and we’ll add you to our talent bank so that you’re ready as soon as a vacancy becomes available once you’ve finished your school education.
All of our apprenticeships are designed to reflect your individual training needs and programmes usually take one-two years to complete. Training is delivered through a combination of on and off the job training. It can be at monthly workshops at the college or in the workplace. The remainder of your training takes place in the workplace with regular visits from assessors.
During your apprenticeship you’ll earn a real wage, learn job specific skills and gain an industry recognised qualification in your chosen subject area.
Starting an apprenticeship is the first step in your career – but you don’t have to do it alone. From day one, an assessor will work with you to agree a learning plan, visit you at work, and be there every step of the way to ensure you succeed.
You will also have access to a wide range of services such as our Learning Resource Centre, offering computer and internet access, as well as books, magazines and journals if you attend any classes onsite or live near any of our colleges. If you study completely in the workplace our Student Services and Welfare team can also help you throughout your time as an apprentice. They can talk to you over the phone if you cannot visit the site and are trained to offer helpful advice and support services.
