Jessica has no regrets about choosing an Apprenticeship over university.  She much prefers her role as an apprentice maintenance technician with BMW Group Plant Hams Hall where she spends four days on the shopfloor and one day studying engineering at James Watt College.

Ricardo’s advice is to find out all you can about different apprenticeships and then decide which one you really want to do.  Go online, get advice from a careers or an apprenticeships advisor.  Try and speak to someone that’s already doing the job if you can.

Daniel works within the manufacturing engineering department at Hydraforce Hydraulics Ltd, a Birmingham based manufacturer of hydraulic valves and manifolds.  His role involves transferring and introducing new products for the business.   This has led to him setting up new production lines, which has in turn created more jobs for the local area.

Annalise is an electrical installation apprentice with Noble Electrical in Birmingham.  “I think it’s a shame there aren’t more women doing what I do.”  “I love the job.  I get praised by people for being a female taking on work like this  – it’s a nice feeling.”
