Let us help you ‘Work it’

Work experience is an important step towards getting the job you want –  it lets you find a career that’s right for you, improve your skills in a real working environment and makes you an irresistible candidate when the time comes to apply for that first job!

We know just how important work experience is to build your confidence as well as your CV and that’s why we’ve teamed up with local employers to bring you ‘Work it’.

‘Work it’ is designed with you in mind and is geared around helping you land your first job.

If you are on a vocational course, you will be encouraged to complete an average of 35 hours work experience per year, including a work placement with an employer (the duration of your placement will depend on your level of study – if you choose an Industry Placement, you could be lucky enough to complete at least 315 hours with an employer, really testing out your chosen career!).   Whichever route you choose, we can help you find that work placement!

While we do encourage you to do your research to find an employer – we are also more than happy to help!

We want you to gain valuable experience in a sector you love and find the right opportunity to suit you.

Work placements will help you to develop your skills in a real working environment – what better way to prepare yourself for the world of work?!

Our aim is simple – to help you obtain the skills you need to enter the world of work whilst building your confidence, communication skills and your relationships with employers.

Once you’ve contacted an employer our Work Placement Coordinators will help ease you through your work placement journey. If you choose to take up an Industry Placement, we have expert staff who can help you with that too.

Whatever stage you at on your work placement journey we are here to help.

For more information read our work placement student guide here.

If you are an employer and interested in offering work placements, find out more here.
